Question #1 | What is cremation? |
Answer: | Cremation is the process whereby your pet’s body is transformed into “ash” through the application of intense heat. Once cooled, your pet’s remains will be processed, and either placed in an urn and returned to his/her family, or scattered by a member of our staff. |
Question #2 | Is there only one type of pet cremation? |
Answer: | No. Basically, there are two types of pet cremations. A private cremation is one where your pet is the only pet in the equipment during the cremation process. This is the only option that ensures the cremated remains you receive are those of your beloved pet. A communal cremation is one where more than one pet is involved, and all of their cremated remains are commingled as a result. With this type of cremation, it is impossible for the provider to return your pet’s cremated remains to you. |
Question #3 | Are all pet crematories alike? |
Answer: | In short, no. Because most states do not regulate pet crematories, the quality of facilities, services, and staff can vary widely. |
Question #4 | Do I have to purchase a casket for my pet’s cremation? |
Answer: | No. A casket is not needed for cremation. Sometimes, family members will chooses to wrap their pet in a favorite blanket or some other personal article of meaning to the pet or family members. |
Question #5 | What if my pet dies at home? |
Answer: | We have professional staff “on call” every day of the year. Upon your call we will arrange to come to your home to take your pet into our care. |
Question #6 | How long after my pet’s death will it take to receive his/her remains? |
Answer: | We respond to your call as soon as possible, picking up your pet either at your home or vet clinic. This means we are able to return your pet’s cremated remains within 48 hours. |
Question #7 | What questions should I ask my veterinarian or pet cremation provider? |
Answer: | We advise that you ask these very important questions: • Where is the crematory located? • When can I come and inspect it? • What type of cremation do you offer? • What is the price of the cremation? • When will my pet be cremated and then be ready for pickup? • How do I know I am going to get back my pet’s cremated remains? |
Question #8 | Do most pet owners choose a “private” or “communal” cremation? |
Answer: | Research indicates about 70% of all pet families choosing cremation want their pet’s cremated remains back, which means they opt for private cremation. |
Question #9 | How much does cremation cost? |
Answer: | We offer a number of special packages depending on your preferred type of cremation. Please call one of our experienced pet loss professionals who will give you specific pricing information, and answer any other questions you might have. |
Question #10 | Is an urn required and where do I get one? |
Answer: | We use a very simple urn in our basic cremation package to keep our price as low as possible. This urn is just perfect for some families, however, others want something more personal for their pet. Your family has the option of purchasing a more appropriate urn when you come into our facilities to take your pet home. We offer an assortment of memorial urns, jewelry, garden stones, and other keepsake items in our showroom, and invite you to browse our online selection. |
